It was a beautiful day, a Sunday in fact, May 28, 1978, when God blessed the Mills family with a baby girl. Heidi Renee Mills, weighing 7 lbs., joined Dad, Mom and big brother, Andrew! Now there were four of us.
Heidi was a mild-mannered child, and loved everybody she met. In return, she was loved by all who came in contact with her. She loved school, and became quite a strict teacher of her little charges when she wasn't even ten!!
Through the years, we became more than Mother and Daughter; we became friends, and that friendship continues to grow stronger and sweeter with each passing day. Now, she is a wife, and a good one at that. Plus, she's a great mother of two handsome, energetic boys. Heidi loves God and loves the work of God. We evangelized some when she was young, and now she is an evangelist's wife. It's odd how the lives of different family members often follows a similar path.
Today, Heidi is "celebrating" at the bedside of her husband, Heath, who is undergoing an unplanned but needed appendectomy in Texas. We miss them but pray that God will go where we cannot. Our hope is that this birthday, with its unscheduled turn of events, will still be a very blessed occasion.
